UST Removal and Phase II Site Investigation

Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA

Quad 3 coordinated and managed a storage tank removal / replacement project. The project involved: a) the design, plans and specifications for the UST project; b) the removal of three UST systems; c) the installation of two new heating oil storage tank systems and one new gasoline storage tank system; d) and performed a Phase II Subsurface Site Investigation.
During the original removal activities soil contamination was encountered. It was concluded that the contamination was a result of leaking product lines. Remediation activities included the screening, removal and off–site disposal of all visibly contaminated soil followed by further soil sampling prior to the installation of the new fiberglass tanks.
Following the installation of the new tank systems, a Phase II Site Characterization Assessment was performed. The site characterization included the installation of four groundwater monitoring wells and a subsequent sampling.
