Exterior Repairs, Building 87

Philadelphia Naval Business Center, Philadelphia, PA

The building was constructed in 1920 and is considered a historically important structure. The scope of work included the removal of the existing “galbestos” corrugated metal siding and replacing it with stucco to match the north face of the building. These changes improve the weatherability and energy efficiency of the building.

An interesting “Green” feature of this project is the deconstruction and salvage of the corrugated wire glass walls. Corrugated wire glass is a very thick, beautiful, wire-reinforced glass product that is no longer manufactured. The gass was salvaged and sold to help offset the cost of the project.
