Renovations to Penn Place
North Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA
The building was built for the General Services Administration in 1972 and was used as a federal office building until the late nineties. The building shell was in excellent condition, but the internal building systems such as HVAC, electrical receptacles and lighting fixtures, and the exterior ribbon-window system and roof, were in need of major repair or complete replacement.
The three-story steel-frame and masonry structure, was completely gutted and dramatically transformed into modern office space for the Juvenile and Adult Probation, several district magistrate court rooms and offices, Information Technology, Voter Services, and numerous other administrative departments.
